This EXTENDED 2 HOUR talk gives an introduction to the concepts of primitive reflexes – and gives insights into what function they play.
THIS EXTENDED WEBINAR GIVES MORE CHANCE TO REVIEW OVERALL CONCEPTS, TO LOOK AT CONTEXT, EXPLORE EACH REFLEX IN TURN AND TO SHOW HOW TO PLACE WITHIN AN OSTEOPATHIC CONSULTATION AND CONSIDER AN OSTEOPATHIC APPROACH.
This additional time will give a lot more detail about each individual reflex and their role. The webinar covers the moro and the so called fear paralysis in detail, discusses the autonomic dynamics of reflexes, and why moro doesn’t turn into startle, and why fear paralysis really isn’t to do with fear. Get insights into the myths and assumptions about reflexes, and some and find out how to evaluate things, how to assess, and how to integrate the reflex story into an osteopathic case and learn what we can do, so that your approach is not just prescribing exercises.
There are endless examples of exercises to ‘remedy’ so called ‘retained’ primitive reflexes. But, are these reflexes really just movement based? How can certain muscle movements cause fear to recede, or breathing to change, or focus at school to improve? What is really going on? This talk gives you some more information ‘behind the scenes’ of the usual primitive reflex rehabilitation story.
It is a companion webinar to another in my Neurodevelopment Series – “Rhythm and Oscillations in Osteopathy – Neurodevelopment and Infant Feeding” in which can now be purchased as a recording on my website: osteobitesize.com
